Safety Week 2020

Standard

We are always thinking of ways to stay safe in Nursery and how to keep ourselves and others safe. During Safety Week we thought even more about it and took part in some special activities to make us think about different situations we might find ourselves in.

A strange thing had happened when we got to PE. The Apparatus did not look safe at all!

We had to work together in teams and with our grown ups until everything was safe and ready for us to climb on and under.

Thankfully we managed to fix everything and make sure it was safe for us to do our PE. We did learn that we have to look carefully when we approach a situation, however familiar it might be, just to make sure it is safe.

In every PE lesson when we are climbing we have to keep ourselves safe. Can you think of the things you do to keep yourself safe when in PE?

We also went for a walk around school to see if we could find some of the things that keep us safe when we are school. Can you remember what you found? Maybe the photographs will help you remember what we found.

Finally we talked about staying safe online and when we’re using our computers, phones and tablets. Lots of children talked about being allowed to play on them unsupervised and at all times of day. We talked about what to do if you saw something which upset you or worried you. Can you remember what to do?

We read some books and stories to help us think about it. You can click on the link here to find the Smartie the Penguin story. We read the EYFS version.

Parents/ Carers- it is really important that children, especially young children like those in Nursery, are supervised when using their devices and are not allowed to play on them for unlimited periods of time. You can find out more on our school website and Online Safety blog.
