A Singing Start Movie

A Singing Start Movie

Last term we were very lucky to have Martin Harwood come and sing songs with us as part of The Singing Start project. We learnt new songs, explored percussion, took turns being conductors and even made up our own songs. Click here to see what we got up to.

We even started an after school music club with children throughout school.

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day

Today was a very special day. We invited our mummies, aunties and grandmas to our Mother’s Day performance. We have been getting ready for this morning by making special things for our mummies.

First we made butterfly Mother’s Day cards. We painted our hands in different colours and patterns and printed butterfly wings. Then we painted the body and wrote a message and our names inside.

We made jewellery out of salt dough. We mixed 1 cup of water, 1 cup of salt and 2 cups of flour. We added colour and rolled them into beads. Once they were dry we made a pattern and threaded them onto elastic.

We have been trying hard to learn our songs ready for today’s performance. We learnt Skidamarink and a special Mother’s Day song for our mummies.

Skidamarink

Skidamarink a dink a dink

Skidamarink a doo

I love you

Skidamarink a dink a dink

Skidamarink a doo

I love you

I love you in the morning

And in the afternoon

I love you in the evening

And underneath the moon

Skidamarink a dink a dink

Skidamarink a doo

I love you

Boo boo bi doo

Chatterbox Challenge and Story Telling Workshop

Standard

Yesterday we had a very special workshop with our parents and carers.

We took part in I CAN’s Chatterbox Challenge. I CAN is a children’s communication charity, supporting children with communication difficulties and their families. This year’s Chatterbox Challenge was Garden Adventures with Ben and Holly. The children had songs and rhymes to learn at home with their families and they collected sponsorship money to sing their songs. We then performed the songs for our parent’s and carers. All the money raised will go towards supporting the I CAN charity and their important work.

As well as our Chatterbox Challenge we also had our story telling workshop. The children have been learning the story of the Three Little Pigs. In Nursery we focused on the repeating words in the story and in Reception the children learnt the whole story! The children used Makaton signs to help them remember and retell the story and did a great job!

When we got back to the classroom we made cone puppets for the story of the Three Little Pigs and took home copies of the story and the actions.

We had lots of fun at our workshop and would like to say a big thank you to all the parents for learning the songs at home with your children and coming to the workshop.

We will be learning a different story every half term to support children’s communication. All the work you do at home, reading stories and learning songs gives your children a big help in their communication skills.

Thank you and hope to see you at our next workshop ! 🙂
