Kinetic Sand

We have had a new sensory activity this week…kinetic sand!

Kinetic sand feels a little like wet sand or sand foam but is more mouldable like play dough.

You might have seen that you can buy kinetic sand but we had a go at making our own.

We mixed 3 cups of sand with 1 cup of cornflour. Then we added a cup of water with 2 tablespoons of washing up liquid.

Through the week we changed the resources we used with the kinetic sand.

First we added rolling pins and tools for writing.

Next we added buckets and spades for making sand castles.

Then we added small cubes, tweezers and bowls for counting.

The children had lots of fun in the kinetic sand.

We wrote letters and numbers, built castles, talked about how it felt and counted out objects.
