This week we started reading the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
We used the book and soft toy props to retell the story.
On the snack table we had fruit from the story to taste; apples, oranges, pears, strawberries, plums and watermelon.
On the sensory table we had green slime and food from the story.
Then we added knives and forks to the slime to practise cutting.
On the fine motor table children punched holes in leaves and threaded them onto string.
We threaded fruit and vegetables, learning the names and making patterns as we threaded.
We made caterpillars in the play dough with match sticks and googley eyes.
We even turned the water in the water tray green!
